Doctors’ opinions are invaluable when dealing with disability, absence or incapacity. The relationship between employers and doctors can sometimes be difficult. A fit note which states that an employee's absence is due to bullying or harassment at work when the employee concerned has not raised a grievance, or is caused by nothing more specific than “stress at work”, may not go down well with an employer.
