Ireland opens the door to extending Brexit talks beyond 2019

Dechert Senior Director, Roger Matthews, speaks to CNBC following Ireland's Foreign Minister stating the government would not oppose an extension of Brexit negotiations in the hope that an agreement would be achieved.  Mr. Matthews argues that this is legally possible, but reiterates that all 27 EU member states have to also be in agreement.

Mr. Matthews has extensive international and EU sanctions experience, and currently advises a range of large multinational companies on both ensuring sanctions compliance and on specific strategic and contentious issues.
