Dechert was honored to contribute to a new private capital funds/private equity learning resource. Three London-based partners contributed chapters to the textbook ‘Private Capital - Private Equity and Beyond’, which was authored by eminent London Business School Private Equity Institute professors Eli Talmor and Florin Vasvari.

‘Private Capital - Private Equity and Beyond’ has been endorsed by leading figures in the private equity industry, including Henry R. Kravis of KKR, David M. Rubenstein of The Carlyle Group and Stephen A. Schwarzman of The Blackstone Group.

The textbook is in two volumes. Volume I ‘Private Capital Funds’ focuses on fund level aspects: private capital as an asset class, fund structuring, performance measurement, fundraising, fund due diligence, accounting and reporting, governance, administration and tax considerations. Dechert partner and global financial services group co-chair, Gus Black, co-authored the chapter on fund structuring.

Volume II ‘Private Capital Investing’ is devoted to an analysis at the investment level. It covers valuation of private companies, deal screening, acquisition finance and LBO transactions. John Markland, a finance partner and co-head of the Firm’s global leveraged finance group, co-authored a chapter on acquisition finance. Christopher Field, a corporate partner and co-head of the Firm’s private equity group, co-authored a chapter on deal specific legal issues.

John Markland commented “we were delighted to be the only contributing law firm to co-author the textbooks which form the basis of a comprehensive reference and learning resource for students and industry practitioners alike.” He added, “Dechert is regarded as a thought leader in the field of private capital funds, and we feel privileged to share our insight and hope that readers find our content valuable.”

The two-volume textbook is available to order and purchase here.
