Julia Caprio

Julia Caprio is an associate in Dechert’s securities and complex litigation group. She represents clients in complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts, at the trial and appellate levels, as well as in commercial arbitrations. She also has experience assisting organizations, board committees and individuals in internal and government investigations.

Ms. Caprio’s experience includes representing corporations and their officers and directors in litigation involving shareholder derivative claims, board mismanagement, M&A disputes, breach of contract and related wrongdoing. She has extensive experience across all phases of litigation, including drafting dispositive motions and taking matters to trial, achieving favorable outcomes for clients.

Ms. Caprio maintains an active pro bono practice and is a two-time recipient of Dechert’s Sam Klein Pro Bono Award.

  • The founders of Sculptor Capital Management in a complex corporate governance matter relating to the proposed sale of Sculptor to Rithm Capital Corp., including litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery.
  • Icahn Enterprises in an investigation and securities class action litigation.
  • A large private credit manager in an arbitration against a spun‑off adviser concerning service‑fee obligations, post‑spin employee equity commitments, and alleged non‑compete violations.
  • Guggenheim Funds Investment Advisors in breach of fiduciary duty class action and derivative litigation challenging the merger of a closed‑end fund and seeking recovery for alleged investment losses.
