Emma Dillon

Emma Dillon is an experienced senior litigator and focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and arbitration. Ms. Dillon is experienced in assisting clients across a range of multi-party, international commercial disputes relating to breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, misrepresentation, fraudulent misconduct and termination. In addition, she has participated in matters involving high-value financial litigation, enforcement actions and has advised on regulatory investigations.

The Legal 500 UK recognised Ms. Dillon as a "key lawyer" in the Banking Litigation: investment and retail category, describing her as "absolutely first rate – clever, efficient, calm and thorough" (2024).

Ms. Dillon was a trainee at Dechert and during that time spent three months on secondment at Dechert’s Brussels office in the Competition team.

Ms. Dillon is a Solicitor-Advocate (Higher Courts Civil).

  • Advising a major bank in its defence of a multi-party billion-dollar fraud dispute in the Commercial Court (listed as one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases in 2020 and 2025).
  • Advising fund manager, Tyndaris, in a High Court dispute with an investor regarding the operation of trading platforms driven by artificial intelligence and machine learning. Featured as one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases for 2020.
  • Representing a Singaporean company in relation to a Commercial Court claim arising under the terms of a share purchase agreement for breach of warranty, breach of fiduciary duty and fraudulent misrepresentation.
  • Advising an investment bank in respect of insurance claims linked to its exposure following the collapse of Greensill Capital, including working with Australian counsel to bring litigation claims in New South Wales seeking an indemnity under insurance policies.
  • Advising a national radio station in connection with potential claims arising out of trademark infringement.
  • Representing nine Claimants in a multi-jurisdictional SCC Arbitration involving complex, high value fraud claims and counterclaims.
  • Advising and assisting Dame Elizabeth Gloster in her capacity as the independent investigator in respect of the FCA’s regulation and supervision of London Capital & Finance plc which collapsed in January 2019, putting at risk approximately £230 million invested by over 11,000 retail investors.
  • Advising an international private investment group in connection with multi-million-dollar claims arising out of the insolvency of a major natural resources company in Central Europe.
  • Advising a client in relation to litigation arising out of an insolvency.
  • Advising an individual client in connection with the insolvency of a series of large private equity funds following allegations of fraud, mismanagement, and the commingling of funds.  
  • Advising a Middle Eastern bank in connection with the enforcement of an English judgment in a foreign jurisdiction and working alongside local counsel to freeze and realise assets in that jurisdiction.
  • Advising a client as part of a multi-jurisdictional team on the enforcement of an arbitration award in various jurisdictions.  
  • Advising a litigation funder in connection with its assessment of potential claims in the Competition Appeals Tribunal.
  • Preparing a legal opinion on issues of English law to be used by a client in Russian proceedings.

  • Drafting submissions and advocating for individuals in Employment Support Allowance and Personal Independence Payment appeals.
  •  Advising and representing an individual client in the Employment Appeals Tribunal in connection with a disability discrimination claim against his employer.
  • Working with the Innocence Project to review the applications of individuals who have been convicted of a crime but claim innocence to assess whether there is possible DNA or other evidence to appeal the conviction.
  • Working with the Rights of Women charity to conduct a substantial research project into their “herstory” and the developments in law and policy impacting women over the years. The  Rights of Women 40th anniversary publication is  accessible here.
