Brooke S. Guven focuses her practice on advising fund sponsors and investors on the formation, structuring and operation of private investment funds.
Ms. Guven also advises public and private companies and asset managers on a wide range of sustainability matters, including legal and regulatory compliance, navigating voluntary and mandatory reporting and disclosures, responding to investor requests, and developing appropriate policies, procedures and corporate governance.
Prior to joining Dechert in 2025, Ms. Guven served as the head of ESG and sustainability, managing director and associate general counsel at a leading private investment firm, where she coordinated the firm’s sustainability program across the organization, its funds, and its portfolio companies and other investments.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Guven served as a senior legal researcher at the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment, a joint center of Columbia Law School and the Earth Institute at Columbia University. She also served as a legal advisor to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Government of Liberia. Ms. Guven was an associate and senior associate in the financial services and banking teams of two other large law firms.
Ms. Guven is an adjunct professor at Columbia University, where she teaches a graduate course on business and climate change: law, policy and practice.
