Leahana Grimley

Leahana Grimley is a corporate partner whose practice spans private equity transactions and mergers and acquisitions across the United States and Asia-Pacific, bringing clients a rare combination of cross-border depth and deal-execution experience. Ms. Grimley advises private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies on high-stakes acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and restructurings, consistently delivering on complex, high-value transactions across multiple industries.

Ms. Grimley’s practice covers the full private equity transaction lifecycle. She structures and negotiates leveraged buyouts, strategic acquisitions and portfolio company divestitures, and regularly counsels clients on incentive equity arrangements and the broader corporate matters that arise throughout holding periods.

Her transactional capabilities extend beyond traditional M&A. Ms. Grimley has advised a major satellite operator carrying approximately US$14.7 billion in funded debt through its Chapter 11 proceedings in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia – demonstrating range across complex, large-scale, multi-disciplinary matters.

Before joining Dechert, Ms. Grimley practiced at two leading global law firms, most recently in the San Francisco Bay Area and previously across Sydney, Australia, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. That international experience informs her ability to navigate deals spanning the U.S. and Asia-Pacific markets. Her Australian practice included advising private equity sponsors on fund formation, portfolio acquisitions and divestitures across a range of industries.
