Jerry L. Hall draws on more than two decades of restructuring and insolvency experience to guide clients through complex distressed situations across the United States, including Puerto Rico. Mr. Hall represents the full spectrum of stakeholders in bankruptcy and out-of-court matters, bringing a practical and creative approach to each engagement – one focused on identifying effective solutions tailored to the specific needs and objectives of each client.

Mr. Hall's representations span a wide range of debtor-side and creditor-side roles. He has counseled troubled companies, debtors-in-possession, independent directors, official committees of unsecured creditors, secured lenders, indenture trustees, lessors and distressed debt investors. A distinguishing feature of his practice is his substantial experience in litigation and investigations in major Chapter 11 cases, where he helps companies and boards navigate complex governance responsibilities, competing creditor interests and fiduciary obligations under acute financial stress. He has advised companies and boards in proceedings across multiple industries, bringing both legal rigor and strategic judgment to sensitive mandates.

Mr. Hall's practice covers the full range of restructuring tools, including bankruptcy litigation, Chapter 11 reorganizations, out-of-court restructurings and Chapter 15 cross-border insolvency proceedings. His cross-border experience enables him to advise clients on international distressed situations, providing coordinated and effective counsel across jurisdictions.

He regularly serves clients across a broad range of industries, including healthcare, agriculture, aerospace and aviation, entertainment, finance, gaming and hospitality, life sciences, manufacturing, real estate, retail and telecommunications. His ability to adapt restructuring and litigation strategies to the particular dynamics of each sector allows him to bring clients both legal depth and industry-informed perspective.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hall has remained focused on helping clients navigate uncertainty and make confident, informed decisions – whether guiding a company through a reorganization, advising a creditor on its recovery strategy or counseling a fiduciary in a high-stakes proceeding.

  • Counseled a senior living enterprise with more than thirty facilities serving over 2,000 residents and their families in its Chapter 11 cases.
  • Counseled a skilled nursing and senior living enterprise operating in more than fifteen states in its Chapter 11 cases.
  • Counseled an unsecured creditors committee in a steel pipe manufacturers Chapter 11 case, which involved significant litigation against the debtor’s largest secured creditor.
  • Counseled independent directors in an investigation concerning a chemical company and its recent liability management transactions.
  • Counseled a mortgage loan originator in connection with the ResCap RMBS litigation.
  • Counseled a pork processing enterprise debtor in its Chapter 11 case.
  • Counseled the debtor of a specialty airline offering business-class-only service to London in its Chapter 11 case.
  • Counseled the debtor of a major online advertising company in its Chapter 11 case, which involved three separate sales of assets.
  • Counseled a mezzanine lender in its Chapter 11 case involving multidebtor real estate developers, which included related substantive consolidation and intercreditor litigation.
  • Counseled the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of a skin, hair and oral care products seller, achieving significant recovery for unsecured creditors in a Chapter 11 case despite the secured creditors being substantially undersecured.
  • Counseled an operator in the hospitality industry in connection with the purchase of substantially all assets in multiple Chapter 11 restaurant cases.
  • Counseled a court-appointed monitor in the Chapter 15 case of a popular entertainment company.
  • Counseled a court-appointed receiver of a large fashion company in its Chapter 15 case.
