Megha Kalbag brings a dynamic blend of regulatory insight and transactional expertise to Dechert’s financial services practice. Known for her leadership in the cleared derivatives space, Ms. Kalbag advises clients on securities and commodities regulation, including digital asset regulation, financial market infrastructure, covering trading platforms, the U.S. Treasury clearing mandate and CCPs, and transactional work in the derivatives and structured products spaces. Her regulatory practice focuses on the Dodd-Frank Act, the Commodity Exchange Act, the Investment Company Act and the Investment Advisers Act.
Ms. Kalbag’s clients (which include fintech companies, dealers and asset managers) turn to her for regulatory advice, guidance with registering trading platforms with the CFTC and SEC, and developing programs for offering and trading innovative derivatives products. Her transactional experience includes advising sell- and buy-side clients on ISDAs, repurchase agreements, total return swaps, bank-owned life insurance and stable value wraps.
A trusted resource during the U.S. Treasury clearing mandate implementation, LIBOR transition and Dodd-Frank implementation, Ms. Kalbag provided guidance on industry documentation and negotiated contract-specific terms. She also contributes to advocacy, negotiations and documentation related to these regulatory initiatives and has played a key role in the Futures Industry Association’s CCP Risk Review, a leading global analysis of CCP rules and regulations.
