Julie H. McConnell focuses her practice on representing clients in complex litigation before federal, state and local agencies as well as courts and courts of appeals.

Ms. McConnell defends employers in individual, multi-plaintiff and class action litigation in disputes involving Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Fair Labor Standards Act and other federal and state employment and accessibility statutes and tort claims. She also represents employers in litigation involving disclosure of trade secrets, violation of restrictive covenant and confidentiality agreements, and whistleblower disputes.

A significant component of Ms. McConnell’s practice involves defending companies against disability access claims under Title III of the ADA, the California Unruh Civil Rights Act, the Florida Civil Rights Act, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act and other state accessibility statutes, including cases involving mobility and caregiver access and alleged barriers to access.

Ms. McConnell also counsels employers on day-to-day workplace matters, including personnel policies, employment agreements, employee separations and terminations and internal investigations.

  • Represent professional service organizations in complex restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes in federal and state courts.
  • Represented government contractor in whistleblower dispute under Virginia law and prevailed on demurrer without leave to amend.*
  • Represented media and entertainment company and prevailed in a bench trial and at the Eleventh Circuit involving claims under Title III of the ADA.*
  • Represented multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate and prevailed on summary judgment under Title III of the ADA and California’s Unruh Act.* 
  • Represented and advised Boards of Directors and employers in internal investigations involving claims of sex-, age- and race-based discrimination and sexual harassment.*
