Novak R. Obsenica is a patent agent in the patent counseling and prosecution practice of Dechert’s intellectual property group. Mr. Obsenica has experience assisting clients with patent preparation, domestic and foreign patent prosecution, due diligence, patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses.

Mr. Obsenica focuses his practice on the life sciences and biotechnology industries. He has prepared and prosecuted patents on a wide range of subject areas including therapeutic antibodies, cancer immunotherapies, cell and gene based therapies and peptide-based vaccines and therapeutics.

Mr. Obsenica’s focus while earning an M.S. in biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University was on immunology and gene therapy. Mr. Obsenica’s undergraduate research in biochemistry at Oakland University was focused on electrochemical investigations into protein phosphorylations.

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Obsenica worked as a patent agent at a Washington, D.C.-based IP law firm.
