Paul S. Stevens Jr. is an associate at Dechert based in Washington, D.C. and a member of the firm’s financial services group.

Mr. Stevens is actively involved in the firm’s work advising registered and unregistered investment funds, their boards and independent directors, and U.S. registered investment advisers on a range of regulatory, compliance, and corporate matters.

Mr. Stevens’ recent experience includes advising permanent capital vehicles, such as closed-end funds and business development companies, private credit managers, automated (or “robo”) advisers, and sponsors of managed accounts. Recent matters addressed questions under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 concerning the solicitation and marketing of investment advice and fund products, safeguarding and custody of assets, and managing multiple accounts and co-investment opportunities. Mr. Stevens also regularly assists firms in preparing for, and in responding to, SEC examinations, guides firms through the SEC registration process, and supports firms in applying for and obtaining SEC exemptive relief.

Mr. Stevens contributes regularly to industry publications and Dechert initiatives and is a member of the International Securities Regulation Committee of the International Law Association.
