Alyssa Walters focuses her practice on complex product liability litigation and mass torts, representing major pharmaceutical companies and product manufacturers in state and federal court, including federal multidistrict litigations (MDLs). Ms. Walters has represented leading companies across a broad range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, foods and beverages, and performance materials, in high stakes matters involving claims for personal injury, property damage, and medical monitoring. Ms. Walters has experience at all stages of complex litigation, including fact discovery, expert witnesses, motion practice, class certification and Rule 702 Daubert briefing, trial preparation, and post-judgment compliance.
A distinguishing aspect of Ms. Walters’ practice is her representation of a major pharmaceutical company in connection with the company’s landmark civil settlement. As part of a comprehensive resolution involving ongoing government oversight, Ms. Walters counsels the client on its obligations arising under a court-appointed monitorship. Her work in this area requires close coordination with the court-appointed monitor and internal compliance personnel and demands a sophisticated understanding of the client’s business operations.
Ms. Walters maintains an active pro bono practice. She has represented victims of labor trafficking bringing civil TVPA claims in a multi-year litigation in federal court, for which The Legal Aid Society honored her at the Pro Bono Publico Awards in 2021 and 2023. Ms. Walters also worked with the Center for Reproductive Rights to successfully challenge an Oklahoma executive order that unconstitutionally restricted abortion access during the COVID-19 pandemic. For this work, she has been named a two-time recipient of the firm’s Samuel E. Klein Pro Bono Award — first in 2021 and again in 2025.
Ms. Walters serves on the hiring committee for Dechert’s New York office. She has been recognized for her commitment to advancing diversity with a Dechert STARS Vernon L. Francis Diversity Champion award. Ms. Walters also serves as a Senior Content Editor of the Product Liability and Mass Torts group’s newsletter, Dechert Re:Torts.
Ms. Walters is an alumna of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Pathfinders Program. During law school, she worked as a legal intern for W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. and a judicial intern for the Honorable John M. Mott in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
