Dechert Diversity Initiative Recognized by Profiles in Diversity Journal
A Dechert LLP diversity initiative has won recognition by Profiles in Diversity Journal in the publication’s International Innovation in Diversity Awards series for 2016. The awards honor trailblazing companies and organizations around the world that have innovated to advance diversity and inclusion initiatives.
“The 13th Annual International Innovation in Diversity Awards generated a wide range of unique applicants from businesses and organizations around the world,” noted Ruth Hawk, editor-in-chief of Profiles in Diversity Journal. “The emerging focus of them all is an alignment of diversity and inclusion with business goals in the workplace.”
Dechert received an Honorable Mention in the awards for its Diverse Junior Associate Boot Camp, a one-and-a-half day event designed to help diverse new hires forge bonds amid intensive exposure to diversity-related advice, practical guidance, and inspiration. Dubbed “The 360-Degree Attorney,” the May 2016 event brought some 30 diverse associates together in New York to hear Dechert chairman Andrew J. Levander and an impressive gathering of clients and consultants explore the distinct elements of what it takes to succeed as a diverse lawyer.
“We wanted to try a new strategy and envisioned an event at which new lawyers could learn about the firm, bond with other diverse lawyers, and get a clearer sense of how to succeed in a major global law firm,” said Hector Gonzalez, Dechert’s Deputy Chair for Diversity & Inclusion and a white collar litigation partner.
