Dechert Provides Antitrust Counsel to Ritchie Bros. on $758.5M IronPlanet Acquisition

Dechert LLP is providing antitrust counsel to Ritchie Bros. on its US$758.5M acquisition of IronPlanet, an online marketplace for the sale and purchase of used industrial equipment. Ritchie Bros., established in 1958, is the world’s largest industrial auctioneer, selling used equipment for the construction, transportation, agriculture, energy mining, forestry, and other industries.

According to their joint press release, the companies expect that the combined company will rank within the world’s top 50 business to business e-commerce companies. The acquisition will accelerate Ritchie Bros.’ multi-channel diversification strategy, increase customer choice, enhance online offerings, and expand the company’s capabilities into new channels, sectors, and regions.
