Legal Week and ACC Name Dechert Banking and Finance Team of the Year in The Middle East Legal Awards

Legal Week and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Middle East chapter have named Dechert LLP Banking and Finance Team of the Year in The Middle East Legal Awards 2017. Formerly the Corporate Counsel Middle East Awards, the series has become the region’s premier legal awards – celebrating the achievements of law firms and in-house legal departments.

Dechert was recognized for its work advising the Arab Republic of Egypt on its US$4 billion multi-tranche sovereign bond issuance, the largest ever public bond issuance in Egypt. The record-breaking bonds, issued under Egypt’s GMTN Program in three tranches, represent the first triple-tranche bond to emerge from the African continent and the largest public bond issuance from Africa. The firm also advised on the issuance of US$4 billion of bonds in November 2016 in a private placement with the Central Bank of Egypt – guiding the country through the issuance of an aggregate of US$8 billion of bonds in the space of three months.

The London-based Dechert team advising Egypt in both transactions was comprised of Camille Abousleiman, head of Dechert’s capital markets group, partner Patrick Lyons and associate Jennifer Buckett.
