Alexander Karampatsos

Alexander Karampatsos regularly advises U.S. registered investment companies (including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds and closed-end funds) and business development companies and their investment advisers in a wide variety of regulatory, transactional and compliance matters, including complex fund merger transactions, the development and launch of new funds, the preparation of registration and proxy statements and seeking exemptive relief from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Mr. Karampatsos has particular expertise in issues related to the launch and operation of alternative strategy investment funds such as business development companies, interval funds, and tender offer funds, and regularly advises clients on complex affiliated transaction and structuring questions related to these products. He also advises boards of directors/trustees of U.S. registered investment companies and business development companies on fund governance and fiduciary oversight matters. 

Prior to joining Dechert, Mr. Karampatsos served as associate counsel at a large U.S. based financial services company where he advised on matters relating to the distribution of securities.
