Profiles in Diversity Journal Bestows Double Honors on Dechert for Pro Bono and Diversity Achievements

Dechert’s pro bono advocacy challenging Philadelphia housing discrimination has been named an “Innovation in Diversity” by Profiles in Diversity Journal, which recognizes trailblazing organizations that have innovated to advance diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Philadelphians who use Housing Choice Vouchers face steep barriers in their search for safe and affordable housing. Dechert lawyers acting pro bono successfully partnered with the Public Interest Law Center in efforts to fight for fair housing rights in cases involving discrimination against low-income tenants.

“Our involvement highlighted how quickly the legal system can result in concrete successes for people in need,” said Dechert partner Steven Bizar, who led a team representing the Housing Equality Center of Pennsylvania in a successful case last year.

In its Fourth Quarter 2023 issue, Profiles in Diversity Journal also honored Dechert global managing partner Vincent Cohen when it named him a Black Leadership Award honoree.

Mr. Cohen took up his role in Dechert’s leadership team in July 2023, shouldering responsibility for setting the firm’s strategic priorities and driving its focus on client service, innovation, diversity and inclusion.

Mr. Cohen is also a member of Dechert’s Policy Committee, which consists of 14 elected partners who oversee management of the firm worldwide. In addition, he continues to serve as regional chair of the firm’s U.S. white collar group and focuses his practice on high-stakes litigation on behalf of individuals and corporations.
