National Law Journal Names National Security Partner Hrishikesh Hari a Rising Star
Washington, D.C.-based national security partner Hrishikesh Hari has been honored as a Rising Star for 2024 by The National Law Journal. Honorees are selected for demonstrating exceptional influence as innovators with strong leadership qualities, superior legal expertise, and for their commitment to pro bono, charitable or professional volunteer work.
Mr. Hari’s practice focuses on assisting clients with national security and white collar matters. He has extensive experience advising on national security reviews of foreign direct investment (FDI) and complex cross-border transactions by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). He also represents clients in national security-related white collar matters, including in relation to the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), anti-money laundering laws and regulations (AML) and economic sanctions programs administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Mr. Hari is also dedicated to helping protect individuals and communities from government repression and defending human rights through direct legal support and targeted high-leverage advocacy. Over the past decade, Mr. Hari has mobilized more than 60 Dechert lawyers across five countries and 12 offices to advocate for the rights of prisoners of conscience on behalf of Freedom Now, a Washington, D.C.-based human rights organization. He has provided legal and strategic support to Freedom Now, served on its board, co-led a novel initiative with summer associates and Dechert legal teams to originate and pursue new campaigns, and has worked directly on campaigns on behalf of prisoners of conscience.
Mr. Hari was recognized by The Legal 500 in International Trade (2023-2024) and appointed to Law360’s International Trade Editorial Board in 2024. The Financial Times recognized Mr. Hari’s pro bono work as a “Standout” in its “Innovation in Access to Justice and Civil Rights” category in 2023 and he is a finalist for The American Lawyer’s “Young Lawyer of the Year (Beyond Practice)” Award in 2024.
