Financial Times Recognizes Dechert Among the Most Innovative Law Firms in Asia-Pacific

May 16, 2025

Dechert LLP has again been recognized for innovation and legal excellence in the Financial Times’ Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Awards, which assess firms on the practice and business of law and on staying ahead of critical trends in the legal profession.

In the FT Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers 2025 report, Dechert was again ranked among the “Most Innovative Law Firms in Asia-Pacific” in the FT’s Law Firm Index. This firmwide recognition is calculated on the strength of international firms’ legal innovations, together with scored assessments of their digital maturity, commitment to pro bono, policies towards people and financial success.

The Financial Times consistently ranks Dechert among the most innovative law firms in the world.

Dechert teams were also ranked and recognized in other categories in the FT awards, including:

COMMENDED - in the “Innovation in Deal Making” category, for navigating strict U.S. regulatory hurdles in Lexmark’s US$1.5 billion sale to Xerox. A multi-jurisdictional Dechert team led by partners Maria Tan Pedersen (Singapore) and Gregory Schernecke (Philadelphia), alongside associates David Good and Drew Singer (Singapore) and Rodrigo Rivera (Philadelphia), served as lead advisor to Lexmark and its owners, an Asian investment consortium led by Shenzhen-listed Ninestar Corporation. Dechert partners Jeremy Zucker and Hrishikesh Hari in Washington, D.C. advised on U.S. national security issues to deliver a bespoke transaction for Lexmark’s stakeholders.

COMMENDED - in the “Innovation in Responsible Business” category, for advising global advocacy organization The Center for Reproductive Rights on effective strategies for advancing sexual and reproductive health rights in Latin America. Maria Tan Pedersen and Drew Singer led large, global teams of Dechert lawyers acting pro bono from the firm’s offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, New York, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, London and Paris.

Law firms and lawyers recognized by the Financial Times were honored in a ceremony held at the Asia Society in Hong Kong on May 15.
