Amisha Patel Named President-Elect of the South Asian Bar Association of Washington, D.C.

Dechert associate Amisha R. Patel has been named President-Elect of the South Asian Bar Association of Washington, D.C. (SABA-DC).

Ms. Patel has been a member of the organization for over ten years, serving as a General Director for the last three. In this role, she will work to grow SABA-DC’s membership while also focusing on programming and strengthening the organization’s overall network.

In 2017, she was part of SABA North America’s inaugural class of Rising Stars, which highlighted her leadership skills, community service, and commitment to diversity. She has also served as co-chair of the South Asian Women’s Association Network (SAWAN), a section of SABA North America, which implements programming and highlights issues affecting South Asian female attorneys. 

SABA-DC is a voluntary bar association dedicated to the needs, concerns, and interests of the South Asian American legal community in the Washington, D.C. area. In pursuit of its objectives, SABA-DC regularly organizes panels, receptions, networking events, community outreach efforts, public service projects, mentoring programs, political awareness campaigns, and a variety of other activities.

Ms. Patel focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, class action defense, and white collar investigations. She has represented clients in state and federal district and appellate courts, and before the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and foreign competition authorities. She also engages in significant pro bono work related to immigrant rights and diversity issues.
