Dechert Private Equity Transaction Recognized by India Business Law Journal
A deal on which Dechert advised has been honored by the India Business Law Journal in its annual “Deals of the Year” report for 2017. The law firms guiding the year’s landmark India-related deals are considered by the legal publication to be the elite among the country’s deal makers.
Dechert advised an affiliate of New York-based middle-market private equity fund Public Pension Capital (PPC) on its acquisition of Viteos Fund Services (“Viteos”), a technology-driven provider of shadow-accounting, outsourcing, fund administration and middle-office services for the alternative asset management industry. New Jersey-based Viteos, founded in 2003 by India-born chief executive Shankar Iyer, has operational hubs in the United States and a delivery center in Bengaluru, India. The firm’s clientele includes some of the world’s largest alternative asset managers.
PPC, which was founded by former partners of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., focuses its investments on financial and industrial services, in addition to chemicals and healthcare. Strategic investor FiveW Capital also acquired a stake in Viteos, along with Viteos’ management, which continues to lead the company after the acquisition.
The Dechert team advising PPC in this cross-border transaction included corporate partners Mark E. Thierfelder, Jonathan Kim and Samantha R. Koplik; tax partner Joshua Milgrim; employee benefits partner Eric B. Rubin; corporate associates Edward J. Newlands and Laurie Fram; and employee benefits associate Sarah A. Burke.
