London Private Equity Team Honored in M&A Awards

Dechert LLP’s London-based private equity team has been honored after a Dechert-led transaction, the largest leveraged buyout ever in Romania, was named ‘Consumer Staples Deal of the Year’ by M&A Advisor at the EMEA Corporate Growth Awards 2018. Dechert acted as lead transactional counsel to Mid Europa Partners (MEP) in its acquisition of Profi Rom Food, the fastest-growing supermarket business in Romania, from Poland’s Enterprise Investors. The firm also advised on the acquisition financing. London partners John Markland and Ross Allardice, respectively, led the finance and acquisitions teams.
A second Dechert transaction, the acquisition of Shell’s North Sea assets by private equity-backed independent Chrysaor, was also named as a finalist for ‘Transaction of the Year (Over £3 Billion)’ and ‘Industrials Deal of the Year (over £1 Billion)’. London partner Jonathan Angell led a team that advised Chrysaor on its acquisition of Shell’s interests in 15 oilfields and a number of pipelines, a transaction that transformed the company into the UK’s leading independent explorer and producer focused on the North Sea.
Winners were announced at a gala ceremony at London’s Lansdowne Club on April 25.
