Dechert Pro Bono Team Nominated in Thomson Reuters’ TrustLaw Awards

October 24, 2019

A U.S.-based pro bono team from global law firm Dechert LLP has been shortlisted for “Lawyer of the Year” by TrustLaw, the global pro bono service of the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Each year, TrustLaw recognizes a lawyer or legal team for the provision of exceptional pro bono support on a TrustLaw project. This year, more than 60 nominations were received from non-profit groups, non-governmental organizations and social enterprises.

The Dechert team was nominated by Esusu Financial Inc., a financial technology platform that helps individuals save money and build credit. Over the past year, Dechert lawyers working pro bono have helped the company on several projects as it sought to attract seed funding, expand its market share, and develop new products.

The Dechert team assisting Esusu Financial comprised the following lawyers: in New York, partners Derek M. Winokur and Andrew L. Oringer, and associates Sarah Kupferman, Andrew J. Schaffer, and Aryeh Zuber; in Philadelphia, partner Stephen M. Leitzell; and in Washington, D.C., partners Tom Bogle and Robin Nunn, and associate Robert J. Rhatigan.

TrustLaw’s “Lawyer of the Year” is decided by public vote. Voting is open until Friday, November 1. Anyone is able to cast a vote.
