Eric Brunstad Recognized with Commercial Law League of America Award
Dechert litigation partner Eric Brunstad has been recognized by the Commercial Law League of America (CLLA) Bankruptcy Section with the Lawrence P. King Award. The Executive Council of the CLLA’s Bankruptcy Section presents the Lawrence P. King Award each year to recognize a lawyer, judge, teacher or legislator who exemplifies the best in scholarship, advocacy, judicial administration or legislative activities in the field of bankruptcy.
The Council noted Mr. Brunstad’s work arguing 10 cases in the U.S. Supreme Court, including matters involving bankruptcy, the First Amendment, fee-shifting, taxation, the Commerce Clause, statutory interpretation, jurisdiction, and arbitration. Additionally, Mr. Brunstad has worked on over 60 other matters in the Supreme Court, and argued and briefed numerous cases in most of the federal courts of appeals.
Mr. Brunstad is a Visiting Lecturer in Law at the Yale Law School and a Professor (Adjunct) of Law at New York University School of Law, teaching courses on bankruptcy, argument and reason, federal jurisdiction, commercial transactions, secured transactions, and international insolvency law. He has also taught at the Harvard Law School and Georgetown University Law Center. In March this year, he was awarded the American Bar Association Business Law Section National Public Service Award for his pro bono work.
Mr. Brunstad was presented with the Lawrence P. King Award at the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges in Washington, D.C. on October 31.
