Dechert Honored by M&A Advisor for Fortune Media Brand Acquisition

A Dechert deal, the acquisition of Fortune Media Brand, was named as “M&A Deal of the Year ($100 million-$250 million)” at The M&A Advisor’s International M&A Awards 2019. The awards were established to honor the leading deal teams, firms and professionals whose activities set the standard for international M&A transactions.
A Dechert team led by Hong Kong partners David Cho and Yang Wang represented Thai media executive Chatchaval Jiaravanon in the US$150 million acquisition by asset purchase of the global business of Fortune magazine from Meredith Corp. The transaction allows Jiaravanon to take control of Fortune magazine, an icon of world publishing, and associated products such as the Fortune 500 ranking of large U.S. companies.
Jiaravanon has a long track record in the Asian media industry. He acts as executive director to his family’s Charoen Pokphand Group and serves on the boards of a number of publicly traded companies, including telecom and cable TV provider True Corp, which holds more than US$10 billion in assets.
