Kelly Mathews

Kelly Mathews, a partner in Dechert’s global finance practice, advises asset managers, sponsors, and issuers on a diverse array of complex financing transactions, including broadly syndicated and private credit CLOs, structured credit facilities, ABLs, and various other structured finance solutions, including a variety of novel, bespoke private credit securitizations.  He also advises managers and borrowers in connection with a variety of fund financing transactions, including hybrid structures such as collateralized fund obligations and rated funds where he leverages his expertise in structured products. Mr. Mathews works with a diverse array of financial institutions, including many of the largest tier 1 asset managers, as well as debut CLO managers, partnering with them from initial launch and as they grow.  Kelly has advised a number of clients in setting up and launching new CLO management platforms, including EU and US risk retention compliant structures, and related regulatory compliance.

Mr. Mathews regularly advises several of the firm's 50 plus asset manager clients on workouts and restructurings of distressed assets and liability management transactions.  He leverages this experience together with his expertise in rating agency methodology, regulatory compliance and deep commercial and market understanding to create innovative, tailored solutions to challenges clients face at each step of the transaction cycle, keeping clients ahead of the curve, and ultimately partnering with each client to achieve their unique long term goals.

Mr. Mathews is actively involved in his local church, where he volunteers as an usher and also serves in prison ministry.
