Sozi Pedro Tulante focuses his practice on white collar criminal defense. A former Philadelphia City Solicitor, Mr. Tulante draws on his extensive experience working in multiple areas of government to represent clients in high-profile litigation matters involving sensitive white collar litigation and investigations.

Mr. Tulante was appointed City Solicitor in January 2016, a role he held for two years during which he took on a variety of prominent issues and oversaw the Philadelphia Law Department’s 220 lawyers. During his tenure, he spearheaded the department’s affirmative litigation practice, which handled cases across industries including banking, commerce and food and beverage. He successfully sued the Department of Justice to challenge its efforts to withhold critical federal funds based on Philadelphia’s status as a "sanctuary city."

Prior to his appointment as City Solicitor, Mr. Tulante spent five years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia, where he conducted criminal investigations and prosecutions of narcotics and white collar offenses in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Tulante’s legal work has been recognized on multiple occasions over the last two years, including by the Legal Intelligencer (as one of three finalists for "Attorney of the Year"); the Philadelphia Inquirer (as one of  "25 Legal Influencers"); Philadelphia Magazine (as one of the "100 Most Influential Philadelphians"); and the Philadelphia Business Journal ("Best of Bar"). Prior to joining Dechert, he was a Lecturer-in-Law and Policy Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he taught prosecutorial ethics and constitutional law. Mr. Tulante has continued at University of Pennsylvania Law School as an Adjunct professor and in 2020 received the Adjunct Teaching Award for his "outstanding work teaching State Constitutional Law, supervising externships and mentoring students."
