C5 Honors Dechert as “Investigation Team of the Year” at Women in Compliance Awards

March 27, 2020

Dechert LLP’s female partners and associates in the white collar and investigations practice have been recognized by business intelligence organization C5 in its 2020 Women in Compliance Awards as the “Investigation Team of the Year.” The awards celebrate the significant achievements made by female compliance professionals all over the world that have made a difference and enhanced the compliance profession.

Our female lawyers have been at the forefront of Dechert’s highest-profile investigations this past year, helping to maintain the firm’s place among Global Investigations Review’s 30-firm Global Elite. “The list of assignments demonstrates that the [Dechert] investigation team has worked on some of the most complex and challenging investigations,” wrote one of the C5 award judges.

One of our most significant and high-profile representations is our work for Airbus SE, in which  we helped the company reach its landmark deferred prosecution agreement (DPA), concluding multiple investigations into bribery and corruption. In January 2020, Airbus reached what is believed to be the world’s first coordinated settlement agreement with the UK’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the French Parquet National Financier (PNF), the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS). The Dechert team included 16 exceptional female lawyers, from partner to associate, who were vital to the firm’s leading role in devising global strategy during the four-year investigation, involving reporting to multiple enforcement agencies in collaboration with the other law firms involved. Dechert assisted Airbus with its report to the SFO from April 2016 and in achieving the resulting DPA.

Airbus General Counsel John Harrison said, “Dechert’s outstanding team has played a key role, demonstrating remarkable leadership, innovation, expertise and collaboration.”

Dechert advises clients on their most complex, high-stakes matters in investigations, securities litigation and anti-bribery and corruption compliance. The team also assists clients in all phases of their compliance and risk mitigation strategies, from conducting risk assessments and evaluating existing compliance programs to developing new policies and procedures.
