Euromoney Recognizes Dechert’s Sabina Comis as “Tax Lawyer of the Year”

Dechert LLP’s Paris-based tax partner Sabina Comis has been honored as “Tax Lawyer of the Year” at Euromoney/Legal Media Group’s European Women in Business Law Awards 2021. The contest, now in its eleventh year, recognizes outstanding women lawyers and the firms that set the standard for women-friendly work practices.

Ms. Comis advises French and international companies, family offices, and private equity funds on domestic and international tax structuring that arise from complex corporate transactions, restructurings and refinancings, often involving multiple sponsors. She is one of the few French practitioners able to offer tax advice and handle the legal and regulatory side of fund formation.

Long ranked as a “Leading Individual” across Chambers Europe and The Legal 500 EMEA, Ms. Comis also co-chairs Dechert’s Global Women’s Initiative. In May, she joined Paris partners Alain Decombe and Mélanie Thill-Tayara in an expanded management team for Dechert’s Paris office.

Several other Dechert lawyers were named as finalists by Euromoney/Legal Media Group, including: Smridhi Gulati, finalist for “Rising Star, Finance”; Mikhaelle Schiappacasse, finalist for “Investment Funds Lawyer of the Year”; and Mélanie Thill-Tayara, finalist for “Competition/Antitrust Lawyer of the Year”.

Dechert was also a finalist in a regional category for France.

Winners in all categories of the European Women in Business Law Awards were announced on June 24.
