LatinFinance Honors Dechert’s Restructuring Team for Excellence

Dechert LLP’s financial restructuring practice has been recognized for excellence with LatinFinance’s selection of LATAM Airlines’ financial restructuring as its “Corporate Restructuring of the Year” for 2023.

A Dechert team led by Allan Brilliant, co-chair of the firm’s financial restructuring practice, has played a central role in LATAM’s Chapter 11 proceedings, acting for the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors. The Dechert team achieved a major victory for the creditors when the bankruptcy court refused to approve an insider financing deal and instead secured a revised DIP financing plan which saved the airline – and its creditors – almost half a billion dollars.

Dechert has been widely honored for its role in the matter, which was named “Restructuring of the Year” in 2023 by the International Financial Law Review and Latin Lawyer and recognized as “International Company Turnaround Transaction of the Year” by the Turnaround Management Association. The matter was also honored as “International Matter of the Year” by the American Bankruptcy Institute in 2022 and named “Loan Deal of the Year” by the International Financial Law Review in 2021.
