Global finance partners, Matthew Ginsburg and Sam Gilbert, have been appointed as co-leaders of Dechert’s commercial real estate finance group. These appointments underscore the firm’s overall strategy in global finance and real estate offerings.

Dechert’s commercial real estate finance team represents virtually all of the leading lenders in the market on their most complex commercial real estate finance transactions. The firm is recognized as one of the few firms – if not the only firm – that maintains a seamless commercial real estate capital markets practice extending from loan origination, through loan acquisition and disposition, securitization, workouts and restructuring and creditors’ rights and enforcement.

“We are pleased to appoint Matt and Sam as co-heads of the firm’s market-leading commercial real estate finance practice. Their deep expertise and commitment to client service make them the ideal leaders for this critical area of our business. We look forward to their contributions in driving the continued growth and success of our practice,” said Laura Swihart, co-chair of Dechert’s global finance practice.

"This is a pivotal time to be leading such a skilled team, and I look forward to the opportunity to further build and enhance our firm's offerings in this sector,” said Mr. Ginsburg.

"I am looking forward to working closely with Matt and our capable team, ensuring that we continue to deliver exceptional service to our clients while further fortifying our market position," said Mr. Gilbert.

Mr. Ginsburg and Mr. Gilbert both focus on commercial real estate finance and investment. Mr. Ginsburg advises on the origination, acquisition, syndication, and disposition of mortgage loans, mezzanine financings, and other subordinate debt transactions, as well as joint venture and preferred equity investments.  He has significant experience in mortgage and mezzanine loan post-closing modifications, workouts and enforcement.  He is consistently recognized in The Legal 500 US for real estate finance.

Mr. Gilbert’s practice includes counseling on mortgage loan origination, acquisition, syndication, and securitization alongside mezzanine financing, subordinate debt, post-closing modifications, workouts, foreclosures, collateralized loan obligations and synthetic lease transactions. He also serves as a co-host of Dechert’s commercial real estate finance podcast, Dechert 4 Real.
