Patrick Goebel focuses his practice on financial services and transactional matters. He advises clients on all types of retail and private Luxembourg investment funds including UCITS and AIFs investing in financial instruments, debt (including loan origination), private equity, real estate, infrastructural assets or other type of assets including tangible assets. Mr Goebel also assists investors on their investment in Luxembourg investment funds, including due-diligence and negotiation of investment terms. Mr Goebel also advises on the establishment, the restructuring and on other various legal and regulatory aspects of management companies, AIFMs (including EuVECA managers), investment firms (MiFID) and financial service providers such as depositaries and administrators. He is also assisting on due-diligences relating to the acquisitions of managers and financial service providers.
Mr. Goebel is consistently ranked as a leading lawyer for investment funds in Luxembourg by the leading legal directories, Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500. Most recently, in the 2019 edition of Chambers Europe a client praises him for his "industry knowledge, fast responses and reliability." The 2019 Legal 500 edition comments the “outstanding” Patrick Goebel has a “large and loyal local client following”, who appreciates his broad-ranging experience across UCITS, regulated non-UCITS funds and non-regulated funds.
Mr. Goebel regularly speaks at conferences on various fund-related and manager-related matters. He is also a lecturer on civil liability at the University of Luxembourg and on Luxembourg real estate funds at European Business School (EBS).
Mr. Goebel’s experience prior to joining Dechert includes serving as counsel with a magic circle law firm and being in charge of client relationship and product development with a major Luxembourg bank.
