Dechert Advises Bentley Systems on Acquisitions of Talon Aerolytics and Select Assets of Pointivo Technology

January 09, 2026

Dechert advised Bentley Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: BSY), an infrastructure engineering software company, on its acquisitions of Talon Aerolytics and the technology and technical expertise of Pointivo. The transactions closed in December.

The acquisitions strengthen Bentley’s asset analytics capabilities, expanding its application of digital twins and artificial intelligence to help infrastructure owner-operators improve asset performance and resilience. The transactions broaden Bentley’s offerings in the telecommunications and electric utility sectors, supporting integrated digital workflows for global 5G deployment and grid modernization efforts.

Bentley’s asset analytics portfolio includes OpenTower iQ, which supports telecommunications tower management, and Blyncsy, which provides AI-driven analytics for road networks. The acquisition of Talon expands Bentley’s capabilities in site surveys, inspections and asset digitization across wireless telecommunications, broadband and electric utilities. Talon’s platform combines workflow automation, digital twins and artificial intelligence to improve productivity and provide insights into ongoing asset conditions.

The acquisition of Pointivo’s technology, including its intellectual property and technical expertise, adds capabilities spanning drone data processing, AI-powered damage detection and geolocation. These additions enhance Bentley’s ability to deliver AI-driven insights across infrastructure asset classes.

Bentley Systems, headquartered in Exton, Pennsylvania, provides infrastructure engineering software used in the planning, design, construction and operation of infrastructure across transportation, utilities, communications, water and energy markets worldwide.

The Dechert team that advised Bentley was led by corporate partner Eric Siegel and associate Patrick Sun. The team also included intellectual property partner Thomas Rayski and associate Frank Hwang, junior transactional associate Abigail Ferraioli, employee benefits partner Kevin Kay and associate Tabitha Crosier, national security partner Hrishikesh Hari and associate Daniel Kim, and tax partner Kevin Zaragoza and associate Abigail Hopper.
